also love the inspector feature, it can easily save js files and other code inserts at the top of pages with one click access no having to hunt around for it…do wish it had a dev toolbar like ff…but maybe in the future

I do like my Kindle. It does what I need (you can see a lot of that on previous Kindle articles).

The PDF support is popular for technical manuals that often come with their print versions in PDF format (and school documents).

Obviously there are more ways to get books now though and that’s pretty cool. A Kindle can load a B&N book but unfortunately the Nook can’t load a book bought from Amazon – but I assume that will change some day. Sony is using the ePub format as well which is usable on pretty much all devices as it has become an open standard. The more options the better.

those things all sound pretty interesting. as a kindle 1 and 2 owner, i have to say it’s interesting. but unlike the rest of the world out there I almost never go to barnes and noble, and never visit their site to buy books. and no matter what anyone says about having a bigger library, if a publisher or author doesn’t want it to be on the kindle or any other e-reading device it’s not gonna legally be on there.

for me, i read the books, so the kindle does all i need it to do. I don’t need to use it to check my email, browse the web, look at pdf files or whatever. I have my iphone and computer to do that stuff.

Actually, there is a bug in the viewer that sometimes crops up. It has to do with the anchor setting but it could be affecting you as well.

Here are my settings for image viewing:
Dithering Off (If you us Mangle you don’t need it because it’s already greyscale)
Actual Size Enabled (Mangle has formatted the pictures to the correct screen size)
Fit to Width/Height Disabled (same reason as above)
Anchor to Top Right Off (there’s a bug with this option and it usually doesn’t work anyways)
Full Screen Mode enabled

This works best for me since Mangle has formatted my pictures to fit correctly on the device already.

If you are still having trouble after messing with some of those settings you may want to try restoring back to factory defaults or doing a full restart (hold the power button for longer than 15 seconds).

The other setting that can be problematical is the “Partial Refresh” – try changing that one to see if there’s a difference.

If you are still having trouble I’d recommend posting at the MobileRead Kindle forum where there are many knowledgeable Kindle folks.

I’m hitting an odd bug on a Kindle 2—the folders of pictures show up, but when I enter one or change pages, the image doesn’t refresh until I hit the “Menu” button. This gets very old, very quickly. Suggestions?

You have obviously understand the total hypocrisy in “banning” or “censoring” my comments on “banned” books during BBW. For that, I congratulate you.
