Netflix Player For Your TV

Roku as released the Netflix Player for $99.

The Netflix Player attaches to your TV and allows you to connect to the Watch Instantly service from Netflix. The box then connects to Netflix via built in 802.11b/g wireless or an ethernet connection and uses your account code to match up to your subscription service. You get unlimited Watch Instantly movies with any subscription above the $8.95 level. Follow the link above for more of the technical details about the player. Currently, the video quality is SD, but Netflix is working on providing HD content in the future.

To be honest, I want this box. I love the Netflix service and the Watch Instantly feature is very nice – but you’ll find the same limitation with the box that you have when watching on your computer: selection. There are thousands of TV shows and movies available in their Watch Instantly catalog but it is still a limited selection. I’m hoping that with the release of this set top player that studios will be willing to allow more of their titles to be made available.

XMBC works with Netflix Watch Instantly and will run not only on XBOX but also on Mac.
MediaPortal is free and runs on a windows computer. I use it currently with an MS remote and watch my digital files (it does TIVO stuff too but I don’t use it for that). MediaPortal has a Netflix plugin as well but it’s a bit buggy.

I like the idea of using this box and just swapping it between TVs since it streams over wireless. Or taking it with on trips to watch my own movies in the hotel.

    Almost the best box
I have one Rokus, and at the beginning it was hard to start because im a mac user, i spend almost 2 1/2 hours at the phone trying to upgrade my firmware. Second bad think, 10.000 movies, yes but what movies? nothing new. the newest 2005. The quality of the image its good for a 32 inches plasma tv but if you go big like a 42 with a 1028 resolution its wasn’t very good. Its easy to find movies and download to the tv but they dont have children control on the tv menu.

Talking about price its the most competitive on the market, $100 the box, $9 month the service, 10000 movies on tv, 1 dvd at home by day. No one has that. The worst part its the movie library to watch on tv, new releases like shorcuit 1 & 2, or terminator 1. and a gret collettion of “no one know that movie”.

Vudu its Fancy nice colors, nice menu, all titles, but have you see the prices?, $299 the box and $3.99 to $5.99 the movies each one.

I think Netflix have a good product, but they need fix a few thinks to be the best.
