Google has now released Google Docs with Google Gears functionality (previously limited to Google Reader). This will allow you to use Google Docs offline and sync your changes. This makes Google Docs much more useful to laptop users and travelers.

Here’s a short video explaining how it works.YouTube Preview Image

It works with Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Camino (and some mobile devices). It doesn’t work with Safari yet, but that functionality is in the works.

Google is rolling this functionality out starting today and you’ll probably see it come to your account within the next week. The rollout is typically random, but signing out of your Google account and signing back in sometimes triggers it.
