YouTube Mobile Expands

YouTube has had a mobile site for awhile now, but it had been very limited in content and availability. Today they released their new updated mobile site and it is much better.

In order to access the site, your phone and service provider must be compatible with Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP). In order to know if it will work with your phone, the easiest way is to just test it. If you are unable to play videos – you are out of luck. I found that my Blackberry Pearl 8100 on TMobile fails so I’m out in the cold on this too (though I understand the 8130 supports RTSP).

If you are able to play the videos then you’re in for some fun. Not only can you watch the expanded selection of YouTube videos, but you can also sign into your account. Why does that matter? Well, you can now upload videos directly to YouTube from your mobile! No longer do you have to wait before sharing that embarrassing video of your friend – you can share it right after it happens!
