OLPC: One Laptop Per Child
The One Laptop Per Child charity organization was founded “to provide children around the world with new opportunities to explore, experiment and express themselves”.

The organization is backed by many big name companies in the tech industry including AMD, Intel, Google, eBay, Nortel, MIT, and Red Hat.
The current way to participate is to donate a laptop. You do this by purchasing a laptop for $200 which is then given to a child in one of the participating countries (such as Nigeria, Taiwan, or Brazil). Starting November 12th, to help promote the OLPC foundation, if you donate $399, you will be sending one laptop to a child in a developing country and one laptop will be sent to you for your child (or local donation).
Please take a look at the OLPC site to see what makes these laptops special – not just from a technical standpoint but how they are used to help make life better.
Geeks give back!
