Your Facebook Profile in Search Results
Facebook is allowing external search engines to find your profile on Facebook.
This may not be something you want though. To turn it off, go to the Privacy settings (upper right when signed in) of your account and change the rules for “Search”. You’ll then want to uncheck the option “Allow my public search listing to be indexed by external search engines”.
Check this article on Of Zen and Computing for more detailed information.
One of the things I liked about Facebook was that you had to know who you were looking for or at least something specific about them in order to find them on Facebook. Allowing external search engines to find profiles will negate some of that extra privacy and will allow for more spam and junk to come through. Some will care, other’s won’t. It’s up to you.
