Water Bottles VS Tap Water

I usually take a bottle of flavored water with me to work and then refill it from the tap throughout the day.  Saves money and bottles.   Recently, I was looking at getting a permanent water bottle – but needed to avoid the crappy plastic taste that usually accompanies those types of bottles.  In looking at the Nalgene website for a water bottle, I came across the Refill not Landfill Campaign.

If you haven’t heard, all those water bottles are actually bad for the environment; not just the plastic bottles but the manufacturing and transport of those bottles.  The other thing is that tap water is not as bad as many people think.  I drink tap all the time, but many people still look at me funny for doing so … as they pull their soda out of the vending machine usually. Nothing against soda, but I’m quite sure the tap water HAS to be better than soda.

Anyways, I thought it was worth reading about the details of the campaign and some of the new articles present just how paranoid some people are about the tap water.  Interesting stuff.

I hadn’t heard about the Refill Not Landfill Campaign. I’ll introduce the site to my readers of Logical Ecology as well. -Donna
