VodPod Social Video Bookmarking
I tried out an online “social video bookmarking” service called VodPod. It’s a site designed to keep track of all those funny/cool/cute/etc videos you come across on the interwebs. It allows lots of interaction with other users and has a quick way to add videos to your personal “Pod” by way of a bookmarklet*. You can even setup a family Pod and allow all the family members who have accounts send specific videos to it. It is also easy to integrate your “recent videos” listing to your blog or website.
Give it a look if you miss being able to keep track of all those little videos people send you or want a way to share those videos between friends and family.
I won’t be using it though. Almost all of these fun videos I keep track of are on YouTube, so I’ll use the “Favorites” feature built into YouTube when you register for an account. If it isn’t on YouTube, then I’ll use my del.icio.us account. First I’ll try to find it on YouTube though since people upload videos from other sites to YouTube.
VodPod does add that “social” aspect though and it does allow lots of flexibility for organizing your videos and even sharing these videos. If you want more than just to keep track of that funny video about the cat attacking the wall… then VodPod may be for you. You won’t know until you try!
* – Bookmarklets are bookmarks that do more than just link to a webpage but run a piece of code. Many online services provide bookmarklets for easy use of their service.
